THE 10/40 WINDOW ON THE WORLD

There is an imaginary window that extends from the tip of Southern Spain across to Japan, and down to the Philipines and across to the western hump of Africa. This area is known as the 10/40 Window.

The bulk of the world's yet Unreached People live in this rectangular window. More than 3.1 Billion people live in this area of the world. By the year 2000 there will be over 400 cities with more than 1 million people. 300 of those cities lie within the Window.

Many of the countries and peoples who live within this window have been closed to the Gospel. It represents the vast pagan religions of the world...706 million Muslims, 717 million Hindus, 153 million Buddhists live in the 10/40 Window.

The 8 out of 10 of the poorest people of the world live within the Window, 2.4 billion of them! While only 8% of our missionary force works among them!

WHY PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE 10/40 WINDOW?

Many of these countries are closed to missionaries or openly antagonistic to the preaching of the Gospel. God said our first response in missionary service is to PRAY...then go.

The Lord commands, "Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest that He would thrust forth laborers into His harvest." (Luke 10: )"...for the harvest is truely great but the laborers are few." (John 4:35) "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. (Psalm 2:8)

Paul said they cannot be saved because they are spiritually blinded, and will not be saved until that blindness is lifted by the Holy Spirit. (2 Cor. 4:4)

Jesus said, "How can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man." (Mt 12:29) Prayer binds the strong man

It is prayer that pulls down the strongholds of the enemy. It is prayer that prepares the soil for the preaching of the Gospel. Every one of us came to Christ because someone else prayed for us. The people of the 10/40 Window will not be saved unless someone prays them into the kingdom.

A PRAYER TESTIMONY

In the early 1300s, a Frenchman named Raymond Lull developed a burden for the Muslim world, and went to live and preach among the Muslims in Bugia, Algeria. He was the first Christian missionary to the Muslims. After several years, he became the first Christian martyr among the Muslims. The seed was planted. - Since 1960 God has led groups of Christians from around the world to go to Bugia for prayer and spiritual warfare. They felt God saying they were not to preach, but to pray. Recently every villager in Bugia became a Christian after Jesus appeared to each of them in dreams on the same night! The spiritual "soil" had been prepared through prayer, their blindness was lifted and the kingdom of God was able to advance and plunder the strong man's household.

God is looking for a few brave, bold, and obedient prayer warriors to make an eternal difference. Will you make a difference to someone in the 10/40 Window?
