30-Day Muslim Prayer Focus

The following are the identified and targeted Unreached People Groups "Within the Reach" of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. We encourage Alliance churches to join in partnerships with missionaries among them by adopting that group as their prayer focus until they come to Christ.

Day 8

Gabon, Africa
Eshira

The Eshira of Gabon occupy a rural community in the villages of Fougamou and Mandji. There is one local church to minister to these people with scattered Christians meeting in nine groups. This community is very difficult to reach because of the strong hold of sorcery/witch craft and demonism. The work of the church also faces great opposition from the enemy. Pray for powerful breakthroughs. Population 38,000.

Day 9

Zaire, Africa
Bateke

The Bateke adhere to a primal belief system in which one is conscious of the daily interaction with those living in the spirit world. They depend very heavily on the ancestral spirits for guidance and success in their lives. The occult forces are strong among them and missionaries and national pastors have feared to go among them. Those who have are suffering great personal loses. Population: 100,000

Day 10

80,000
Southern France
Basque

The Basque people of Southern France are an ancient people with their own language and culture living in northern Spain (890,000) and southern France (80,000). They are a strong individualistic & nationalistic society within both Spain and France. There are few known churches and born again believers among them. Population: 80,000

Day 11

France
North Africans

France has become the holding tank for expatriated North Africans. With this influx of immigrants comes their religion, Islam. The Muslim religion is growing at alarming rates according to French government reports. Today there are more than 4,000,000 Muslims, most of which are North Africans living in France. The Alliance is beginning a work among them. Population: 4,000,000

Day 12

Russia
Kalmyks

Kalmyks are Buddhist Russians living in the Northwestern corner of the Caspian Sea. They are strongly nationalistic and isolate themselves as a culture within a culture. They follow Buddhism and practice animism, a form of spiritism and shamanism. They have been extremely resistant to the Gospel through the centuries. Within the last few years there have been reported as many as 200 believers. The C&MA is targeting establishing a church among them. Population: 180,000

Day 13

Indonesia
Balinese

The Balinese people mainly live on the Island of Bali and East Java. They associate mountains with the presence of god, and have adopted a mountain-like architecture. Many Balinese have never heard of Jesus Christ. They are Hindu living in a predominently Muslim environment of Indonesia. It is said to be Balinese is to be Hindu. They are being reached most effectively with the use of art and drama rather than western style sermons. Population 3,000,000.

Day 14

Indonesia
Ut Danum

The Ut Danum are a conservative tribal people that resist change. They live in constant fear of jungle spirits, and ghosts they believe can only be appeased by offering animal blood. Due to their extreme poverty and their resistance to the Gospel few workers manage to stay long among them. The C&MA now has 30 preaching points among them and 490 baptized believers. Population 30,000.
