Title: Reaching Muslims
by Cheryl Froment
SETTING: A MUSLIM SCHOOL IN INDONESIA
2 Christian Photographers
1 Muslim Headmaster
1 Muslim Teacher
The Skit begins with a Christian Photographer on one side of the
platform and the Muslim Teacher on the other side. Both men are
preparing for their day in prayer.
Photographer 1: Dear God, thank you for this day. Thank you for
putting me here. Lord, use me today. I pray for wisdom and that what
I say will bring glory to You. I pray for your will to be done as we
go to the school today. Amen.
[After the prayer, the Muslim picks up his prayer mat and leaves the
platform]
[Enter 2nd Photographer]
Photographer 2: Good morning. Are you ready to go?
Photographer 1: Well, I have my equipment, the approval papers and
I've prayed. I'm ready.
[Walk across the platform to school]
Photographer 2: I can't believe it has taken so long to get into this
school. Why do you suppose they didn't want us in the school?
Photographer 1: I'm not sure, but don't be surprised if they are
still reluctant.
Photographer 2: What do you mean - we have approval?
Photographer 1: You know, we have a plan, but we need to be sensitive
to God's plan.
Photographer 2: Why wouldn't God want us in this school?
Photographer 1: I'm not saying that god doesn't want us in the
school. All I'm saying is that we can not evangelize these people
openly. We can only be an example for Christ. If we live our lives
for the Lord and ask Him to direct our path, we will be evangelizing
by example.
[Enter Headmaster]
Photographer 2: Good morning sir. We are the American photographers
sent to photograph your school. Here are our approvals.
Headmaster: No! You can not enter this school.
Photographer 2: We have papers. We have permission.
Headmaster: No good to have papers. The decision has been changed.
Please leave.
[Exit Headmaster]
Photographer 2: Can you believe that guy? Why wouldn't he let us in?
What are we supposed to do now? [Enter nervous Muslim teacher]
Teacher: Gentlemen, wait please. (Looking over his shoulder and
talking in lower voice) Don't leave--if you work quickly, I will let
you in. Please don't talk to our teachers or our students. I must
ask that only one of you go in--and work quickly.
Photographer 1: (Speaking to second Photographer) You go. I will
wait here.
Teacher: Sir, may I talk to you?
Photographer 1: Certainly. You have been very generous.
Teacher: Which is better, Islam or Christianity?
Photographer 1: Are you seeking the truth or are you looking for
something else?
Teacher: The truth. I want you opinion.
Photographer 1: My opinion is my choice. Jesus Christ was sent to
this world by our Father, God. My choice is to serve my risen Savior,
Jesus Christ. My choice is Christianity.
Teacher: How do you know this? Have you studied my religion?
Photographer 1: I know of you religion, but my choice is
Christianity.
Teacher: I have documents. Will you read them?
Photographer 1: I will read them only if you read my documents. I
have a copy of the CoMission and the Alliance Life. Read them and we
can talk again.
[Shake hands and exchange papers]
{Photographer 1 moves forward and speaks to the congregation as an
aside}
Photographer 1: In Indonesia there are 6 major religious groups. The
law encourages people to choose of these groups, but also forbids
evangelizing among the groups. When the Muslim teacher asked me about
Islam or Christianity; he could have been setting me up to be
arrested.
I was able to plant a seed today. the information I have given him
points the way to Christ. I am here and planting seeds. You (stretch
out aim and point to congregation) can pray for the seeds that have
been planted.
