Prayer Profile:
The Middle and Upper Class of Caracas, Venezuela

The Middle/Upper class of Caracas live basically in the east eand of Caracas. They are the managers, surgical doctors and professionals. They own at least one car, attend cultural events, and eat in luxury restaurants. They are a materialistic, non-commital people group. Although 90% claim the Roman Catholic faith, it is in name only; they are not a religious people. They usually attend family ceremonies such as weddings and baptisms. They have had the attitude that "life is a party". They are a cosmopolitan, mobile society. This class is in constant change as you have upward movement within the group. This group has recently become more responsive to the Gospel due to financial problems they are now facing.

The C&MA mission of Venezuela places outreach to this UPG on the highest priority. Outreach strategies include the use of evangelistic campaigns, friendship evangelism, English clinics, evangelistic suppers, church partnership evangelism teams, etc. This people group has access to both Testaments of Scripture and are able to hear broadcasts from TRANS WORLD RADIO and local Christian stations in certain outlying parts of the city.

Please pray for the missionary team leading this outreach in Caracas11/97.

Presently, there are two churches. The Chuao Church, which is the older of the two, is being pastored by Eduardo Mercon. He is originally from Peru and did his seminary studies at Canadian Theological Seminary. The second church is a new church plant that was started in September of 1997 and is being led by a team of missionaries including Ron and Kim Croyle and Gaileen Warden.
